During my last update, I told you we had a new record low of new COVID-19 cases in Lake County. Once again, I can report that on June 8th, there was a new record low set at 21 cases, this on the heels of mid-March which saw daily case numbers as high as 293 cases per day. We are making progress, but please continue to be vigilant about social distancing so we can keep improving. Please visit the health department’s website for the most up to date information.
Last week I joined hundreds of our neighbors at Lake Forest’s Market Square in a moment of silence in memory of George Floyd. I’d like to commend the community’s young people for putting on a peaceful event that followed necessary social distancing measures. Read more about that event here.
In other community news, I am glad to report that the Lake Forest Library has launched a vast array of virtual events. From learning about podcasting, to painting, to book clubs, and activities for your children, Lake Forest Library has tons to offer. While it is too soon to know exactly when our library is going to fully open up again, I am pleased that the library is offering tons of great activities for the entire family! Visit their Facebook page for the most up to date information.
I would also be remised if I didn’t show off my early Father’s Day present! Everyone, meet Quint. If you’re a Gunsmoke or Gladiator fan, you’ll get the reference! My family and I are so happy to welcome Quint into the family so I’m sure you’ll see him out with us around our community.
I will continue to keep you updated on news from our community. In the meantime, stay safe and take care of yourself, your family, and your neighbors!
